New Berlin Art Week—new partners: For the first time and with a diverse programme, Brücke Museum, ifa—Galerie Berlin, and Times Art Center Berlin are participating in this year’s edition. During Berlin Art Week, the three new partners will show international perspectives from Argentina, China, Peru, Taiwan, Vietnam, and other parts of the world.
At Brücke Museum, something completely new is being ventured: For the first time, works by the Brücke artists will be exhibited in direct dialogue with a contemporary position. The free hanging canvases of the Argentinean-Swiss artist Vivian Suter are juxtaposed with the paintings, graphic works, and handicraft works of the Brücke artists in an immersive presentation. Works by Suter’s mother, Elisabeth Wild, will also be on display. Opening on 12 SEP 2020.
›Time Goes By‹ will be on show at ifa-Galerie Berlin (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) from 10 SEP 2020. In the exhibition, performances, films, and sculptures by the German artist Rebecca Horn will enter into an intergenerational dialogue with the works of her former master student Antonio Paucar (Huancayo/Berlin). The gallery, which focuses on a transdisciplinary and contemporary exhibition programme, will show the disturbing and touching works of the artists especially in these pandemic times—to address the overcoming of crises as well as the relationship between human kind and nature. The works are part of the gallery’s art collection, which comprises approximately 23.000 works and has been purchased for over 40 years. Opening on 9 SEP 2020.
As art space on Brunnenstraße, Times Art Center Berlin is dedicated to diversity, multiculturalism, and connectivity, with a special focus on underrepresented Asian artists and art practices. In the exhibition ›Readings From Below‹, which will be shown during Berlin Art Week, the institution brings together artistic positions that use the virtual possibilities of archives to develop new readings of our present. Participating artists are: Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Musquiqui Chihying & Elom 20ce & Gregor Kasper, Hao Jingban, Christine Sun Kim and Thomas Mader, Nguyen Trinh Thi, Yuichiro Tamura, and Yau Ching. Opening on 9 SEP 2020.
