Known for films such as ›The Last Showgirl‹ and ›Palo Alto‹, Coppola explores the interplay between intimacy, identity, and cultural nuance in her work. With ›Edie‹, she turns her focus to Hollywood Boulevard, that iconic place where neon lights glow, tourists pose, and film history is in the air. That is where she grew up, where she sharpened her visual sensibilities . Inspired by Ed Ruscha’s masterfully constructed work ›Every Building on the Sunset Strip‹, Coppola approaches the project as a character study: of a street, a mood, and a way of seeing.
Filmed entirely on the Google Pixel 10 Pro, the project allowed Coppola to set aside heavy equipment and large sets, creating a new sense of lightness in her creative process. This approach enabled her to capture spontaneous, living moments, lending the work an immediacy that shapes its visual language: the chaotic poetry of the street, rendered with cinematic clarity while remaining playful.
Following its successful debut in Berlin-Mitte in 2024, Kiosque Pixel now takes over the Supermarque Space in Kreuzberg. There, ›Edie‹ is shown on a custom-made multi-screen installation that allows the audience to immerse themselves directly into the film’s visual world.
The exhibition concept merges cinematic presentation with curated space design, creating a space where art, everyday life, and technology meet in surprising ways. Alongside the installation, visitors can look forward to complimentary donuts from Atelier Dough, selected drinks, and exclusive giveaways.
Reflecting on the project and her way of working, Coppola says: »The fun challenge is to try things you’re not used to—and to find ways to make them your own.« In ›Edie‹, this approach becomes visible: an experiment between the documentary and the poetic, between chaos and choreography, between chance moments and deliberate distillation.
