Artist D’Ette Nogle answers our questionnaire. Four and a bonus.

What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment, I am selecting four questions from this list to answer. You must give people structured choice. Three to go.

Who or what has influenced you in your work?

What artwork do you return to again and again?

What would you do if you weren’t an artist?

What are you reading at the moment?

What should art today be able to do, in your opinion?
Never use ›art‹ and ›should‹ in the same sentence, except in this case. That is a bonus answer.

What aspect of the pre-pandemic world do you grieve—and what things do you not miss at all?
I miss sitting in a movie theater. The theater we went to most before the pandemic has closed permanently. I also miss my cat’s back left leg that she lost during the pandemic. I don’t miss carrying too many things around with me.

If you had to sum up your work in one word, what would it be?

Do you have a daily ritual?
Yes, I exercise to keep fit and drink a smoothie to stay regular. 3 tbsp. flaxseed meal, 2 tbsp. flaxseed oil, 1 tbsp. whey protein, 2tbsp. almond butter, yogurt, or kefir to almost top of the glass, banana slices and blueberries or other fruit on top.

What art or culture-related events do you look forward to in the near future?
I look forward to returning to Bob Baker’s Marionette Theater and maybe going to see Paul Verhoeven’s next movie, ›Benedetta‹. I can’t wait to visit Berlin!
