For Berlin Art Week 2025, Neun Kelche in Berlin-Weißensee presents ›Send Nudes (The Fall of Cyrene)‹, a solo exhibition by Luiza Prado. The show weaves together two stories: the disappearance of silphium—an ancient, heart-shaped plant used as a contraceptive and aphrodisiac, believed to have inspired the ♡ icon—and the end of a love affair. Here, the loss of a species and the slow unraveling of intimacy become intertwined and drawing out the connections between private heartbreak and of colonial extraction, environmental destruction, and the commodification of desire.
At the centre of the project space is a bed inviting visitors to ›bed rot‹—a collective surrender to escapism reframed as care. Prado’s bed linen stitches together sexts, nudes and fragments of environmental news, creating an intimate, tactile map of loss, longing, and survival. In large-scale paintings surrounding the bed, Prado abstracts digital nudes into ghostly cartographies—each one a quiet elegy to love, desire, and the afterlife of images.
