Founded in 1997, Galerie Barbara Thumm has a long-standing commitment to foregrounding contemporary art and artists from around the globe. Its programme includes emerging and established artists from Africa, Latin America, North America, and Europe. The gallery fosters innovative practices and provides a platform for artists who challenge traditional boundaries and explore new concepts. Its programme ranges from conceptual to figurative works, featuring a wide selection of media, including painting, sculpture, video, installation, photography, and digital art. Galerie Barbara Thumm aims to engage both local and international audiences, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through collaboration with artists, curators, and institutions. For over a decade, it has represented the estates of Anna Oppermann and the late Teresa Burga. In addition to on-site exhibitions, the gallery launched the digital platform ›New Viewings‹ in 2020. It also continues to actively participate in major international art fairs.
