The Paint Shop is a newly opened gallery in Berlin-Kreuzberg that stands out from the crowd. Located directly across from Hasenheide park, the space’s unusually shaped layout offers a distinctive venue for both established and emerging artists. A typical Berlin shop window opens the view into the exhibition space from the street—visitors simply ring the doorbell marked ›Paint Shop‹ to enter. The gallery narrows into a triangular shape leading toward the first courtyard, and its floor-to-ceiling windows provide new perspectives and unusual angles on the paintings, drawings, and sculptures on display as one walks through the courtyard entrance.
On the opposite side of this entrance, wall-mounted display cases—common throughout Berlin since the 1920s—are also actively used to showcase works. Artists continually reinterpret the uniqueness of the space, transforming it through their exhibitions.
Since September 2024, the gallery has been run by André Simonow, Erik Ritzel, and Lukas Fritze. It has so far hosted a group show featuring Selina Reiterer, Sarah Lehnerer, Sunny Pudert, and Linus Lohmann, as well as solo exhibitions by Elias Klein, Anna Choi, Paula Breuer, Jane Garbert and Sophia Muriel, Mariona Berenguer, and Maša Stanić.
