Exhibitions That Moved Us—15 Years Galerie Tanja Wagner

by

Over the past 15 years, we've presented 77 exhibitions, and every single one has moved us in its own way.

Each artist or group of artists has been invited to completely re-imagine the space. Trees have grown indoorsfloors have been carpetedwalls paintedsprayed or collaged. Some turned it into a living room, others into a womb. Some darkened it completely or filled it with infrared light. We’ve seen projections, installations of all kinds, cinema setups, and intimate performances. These walls have held it all.

We’ve welcomed thousands of visitors to our space on Pohlstraße (with one notable exception: the time we popped up at 53 Orchard Street in New York). We always hoped the gallery would feel approachable, our big street-level windows acting as an open invitation to anyone walking by to be moved by what they found inside, or at least curious enough to come take a look.

The constant transformation is what makes being a gallerist so thrilling. The space never stays the same, and that’s exactly the point.

Choosing just a few exhibitions to feature was no small task, but here are some that mark key moments in the past 15 years.
