The VBKI-Preis Berliner Galerien will be awarded for the fourth time during Berlin Art Week 2020. The prize is a joint initiative of the Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) and the Landesverband Berliner Galerien (lvbg) and is supported by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Business.
Today the jury, consisting of Andreas Fiedler, art historian and curator, Claudia Große-Leege, managing director of the Verband deutscher Unternehmerinnen (VdU) and member of the VBKI cultural committee, Anne Schwarz, gallery owner, member of the lvbg and VBKI prize winner Berliner Galerien 2019, and Daniel Völzke, art critic and head of monopol-online, announced this year’s three shortlisted galleries. The nominees are: Chert Lüdde at Kreuzberg, Noah Klink at Schöneberg, and Tanja Wagner at Tiergarten. The galleries can now work on their exhibitions and projects until shortly before Berlin Art Week when the jury will visit the galleries and select one prizewinner. The call for entries is endowed with a prize money of 10.000 euros for the award-winning gallery and 2.500 euros each for the other two galleries on the shortlist.

The individual exhibition projects include: the first solo exhibition in Europe of the American artist Rosemary Mayer (Chert Lüdde), the second solo exhibition of the artist Josefine Reisch (Noah Klink), who was born in Berlin in 1987 and works in London, and a solo exhibition of the Dresden-born artist Grit Richter with painting, soft sculpture, neon sculpture and wall paintings (Tanja Wagner).
