Continuity at Esther Schipper
Curated film screenings are planned, both of works by artists and of rare documentary film material. The Journey Through the Gallery series presents favourite works and exhibitions selected by artists, friends, and the gallery team, and extensive archive material on the gallery’s complete exhibition history since its foundation in 1989 is available. This is about connections between the artists, their works and their ideas, and about continuity!
Virtual Exhibition Tours through the Wunderkammer, and Digital Scavenger Hunt at me Collectors Room
With its digital program, the me Collectors Room Berlin offers the opportunity to view the current exhibitions ‘MOVING ENERGIES—10 years me Collectors Room Berlin’ and ‘Gerhard Richter—Abstract Works from the Olbricht Collection’ via a Virtual Exhibition Tour. In a Video Tour through the Wunderkammer, the collector Thomas Olbricht and the curator Georg Laue provide insights into the concept of the Wunderkammer as well as background information on selected objects. With the Digital Scavenger Hunts, children from primary school age onwards can continue to get to know the works of art in a playful way. The questionnaires on the artworks and the separate solution sheets are available for download on the website.
Notes from Quarantine of Texte zur Kunst
The weekly column is intended to give space to various perspectives to interpret this time of crisis from a social and cultural theoretical perspective. The first in the series is the art historian and author Tom Holert, who in ‘Fragilität und Nützlichkeit’ (Fragility and Usefulness) asks about the “usefulness of art” for criticism. The series continues with ‘Im virtuellen Kollektiv gesprochen’ (Spoken in a virtual collective) by Sabeth Buchman and ‘An Ear at the Edge of a Chasm’ by Peter Brock. The Easter Days may offer a little contemplation to read in.
