Guided Tour Concert Performance Talk / Lecture Other Fair Screening Reading Open house Festival Centre Installation

As part of Berlin Art Week, FAHRBEREITSCHAFT will present a day full of art, music and conversation. With contributions from creative practitioners based on site, the festival program will open the different and diverse artistic uses of the grounds to the public. alongside concerts and performances, visitors will also be able to view two recently opened exhibitions by the haubrok foundation: all my colours, a solo show presenting work from David Zink Yi, and the day before sewn into sleep, in which work from Arrange Whatever Pieces Come Your Way and Martin Boyce are interwoven.

To open the program, the publishing atelier K.Verlag will present Assaf Gruber’s short film Match Point (2006), followed by an artist talk. Gruber is a sculptor and filmmaker whose practice focuses on relationships between individuals and institutions, exploring the motivations of his protagonists and the establishments within which they operate. K.Verlag is known for their development of new forms of the-book-as-exhibition. working with artists, authors, and institutions internationally, they produce publications which push forward experimental, concept-based design.

Later in the day, FAHRBEREITSCHAFT will welcome a musical contribution from Sun-Young Nam and Paul Hübner. Both work together in the collective MAM.Manufaktur für aktuelle Musik. In their program Resonances, they will perform music by the American composer and sound artist Alvin Lucier in different spaces of FAHRBEREITSCHAFT. Lucier has explored the nature and effect of sound and acoustics in a unique way: his compositions lead to a fundamental theory of sound that shows how we can appropriate the acoustic world, how we can hear what has yet to be heard. Alvin Lucier teaches to listen intensively and to see sounds as dynamic elements of our everyday lives – with intoxicating consequences. In addition, Nam and Hübner provide an insight into their workshop with music for a concrete structure by the composer Arne Gieshoff, which will be performed for the first time.

Following this, Ilit Azoulay invites to an exclusive studio visit, where she will share insights into her creative process, discuss her latest projects, and offer a behind-the-scenes look at how her studio operates.
This event celebrates the launch of her new limited-edition publication, Facts and Tales, truth be told. The book delves into the complex interplay between knowledge, possession, and the stories we tell. It emphasizes the importance of embracing diverse narratives, promoting a more holistic understanding of our shared human experience.
Please register for one of the two slots, of each 60 minutes, by September 6, 2024, via [email protected].

At the same time, Caspar Falkenstein will provide a gentle transition into the evening with a performance of an acoustic set, including a mix of his own pieces as well as songs by artists such as Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

Later, Berlin Art Week’s special series Meet the Artist will continue with David Zink Yi in conversation with Axel Haubrok. Visitors are invited to join them for a tour through the exhibition all my colours. Zink Yi’s studio has been situated at FAHRBEREITSCHAFT for many years. all my colours is the first solo presentation of his work on the grounds, in which a series of his intense, brightly-coloured sculptures will be presented.

Returning to music, the record studio Big Stuff Berlin, who inhabits former Salon Berlin since September 2024, has invited some of their bands to present their studio program in an outdoor concert.

Recording studio BlueKite, another new addition to the site, will provide an additional musical performance on this evening. Visitors can look forward to a concert by musician Berke Can Özcan, which will take place on the construction site and literally showcase the progress of the area. Özcan's music encompasses various styles, including jazz, Turkish psychedelic rock, ambient, electro-acoustic music, pop, improvisation, contemporary music and experimental music.

To close the night, Florian Zeyfang presents a new film entitled Horses, Moths, Cables outdoors, which was created for this occasion: in calm images, the film establishes a connection between the site of FAHRBEREITSCHAFT and an unknown place outside the cities. Close-ups of plants reflect the green growth on the premises, moths and ants populate the flora. Horses move under a transmission mast that resembles the one behind the area – a visual transmission. Later on, there will be a short presentation of Zeyfang’s earlier works, which convey the development of his formal working method between structural film and poetic image invention. At the same time, two slide projections will be showing other approaches of Zeyfang, which take up the theme of the moving single image.

Throughout the day, Vulgar Ambassador will offer a selection of freshly prepared pizza.
