Beyond Fossilzed Sunshine—Photography in the context of the climate crisis
Boaz Levin in conversation with Katharina Täschner and Su Yu Hsin
As part of the exhibition ›Image Ecology‹, which opens at C/O Berlin on September 15, junior curator Katharina Täschner (C/O Berlin), guest curator Boaz Levin, and artist Su Yu Hsin discuss the historical entanglement of photography, fossil capitalism, and climate change. They talk about the challenges of producing art and images that go beyond the pictorial representation of the climate crisis while critically reflecting on their own conditions of production. The new artistic approaches range from experimental and traditional production methods to historical processes, as well as the invention of new technologies. For example, Su Yu Hsin's video work ›Particular Waters‹ (2023), in which she focuses on the microchip as the epitome of global capitalism.
