Both artists Josèfa Ntjam and Eli Cortiñas are exhibited at Fotografiska during the Berlin Art Week, “Futuristic Ancestry: Warping Matter and Space-time(s)” and “The Machine Monologs, Part I: The Storm”. Berlin Art Week program features an engaging discussion with artists moderated by the artistic director of Transmediale, Nóra Ó Murchú. The discussion focuses on fluid and ecofeminist visions of the future and a critical engagement with technology.
Following the talk, renowned dancer and entertainer Justin Kennedy will present one of his authored performances, "Sign ov' the Times." This choreography intertwines dance, vocals, and music to explore themes of oceanic embodiments (Tidalectics) and Caribbean folklore through an ecocritical lens. This surrealist dance opera, supported by ambient, psychedelic sound and lyrics, delves into representations of mermaids and zombies and the multiple metaphors these figures hold across cultures and diasporas.
The program "Future Ancestry" at Fotografiska, happening between September 11th and September 12th, 2024, explores the connections between bodies, verses, and technology across time.
