Open Air Cinema

in cooperation with Videoart at Midnight

For the first time, Videoart at Midnight shows artists' films and videos in the open-air cinema at the festival venue BAW Garten at the Neue Nationalgalerie as part of Berlin Art Week.

On four evenings, selected works by new and established artists will be shown. The topics range from social upheavals, the future of the museum, nature, questions of sustainability and the climate crisis to alternative collection concepts.

On the one hand, the programme reflects Videoart at Midnight's long-standing commitment to artists' films and videos in Berlin—since 2008, artists have been invited on a monthly basis to show their films and videos on the big screen of the Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte and to present them for discussion. On the other hand, the programme also refers to current exhibitions within the framework of Berlin Art Week and shows the networking of Videoart at Midnight with individual partner institutions in the city. For example, contributions by Annika Kahrs, Sven Johne, Tang Han, Rob Cross and Yalda Afsah can be seen. Annika Kahrs and Sven Johne each have a solo exhibition at the Schering Stiftung and Fluentum in Dahlem. Tang Han, Rob Cross and Yalda Afsah were participants in the BPA// Berlin programme for artists, initiated and directed by Simon Denny, Angela Bulloch and Willem de Rooij, which is part of this year's Berlin Art Week through the BAW Featured section.
