Walk through the AR exhibition ›Augmented Studies‹

at Tiergarten with Vlado Velkov

›Augmented Studies‹ is an experimental exhibition project in Berlin's Tiergarten. All artworks appear via augmented reality (AR) and can be viewed daily on site via smartphone or tablet. The exhibition follows AR Open Baghdad, which opened in Al-Zawraa Park in November 2021. The new exhibition in Berlin also takes place in a green space and invites the public to take a walk through the Tiergarten.

The nature, history and immediate political environment of the Großer Tiergarten shape the works on display. Digital productions tell new stories, link places and current events, or incorporate and expand the sculpture park. ›Augmented Studies‹ explores the new genre of augmented reality and its potential for social and cultural interaction. On view are new productions, complemented by works by artists from the Tarkib Collective Baghdad and Pixelated Realities Odessa, who together transform the Tiergarten into an experimental platform for contemporary art and augmented reality.

The project is part of the initiative Draussenstadt, funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, and the Foundation for Cultural Education and Cultural Consulting.

No apps are required. It is a web-based project that can be viewed via smartphone or tablet with AR support (2017 or newer) with mobile data. To view the exhibition, follow the AR markers on the map where you can activate the artworks. The map and artworks can only be found on the mobile version of the project site: www.tiergarten.org

Participating artists: Anne Duk Hee Jordan, Fabian Knecht, Jeewi Lee, Hella Mewis, Tanaz Modabber, Dennis Rudolph, Benedikt Terwiel, Raul Walch, and artists* from Tarkib Collective, Baghdad, Pixelated Realities, Odessa, and Arpha.
