Thaipark Cooking Demonstration

The ›Cooking Demonstration‹ in cooperation with Berlin’s famous Thaipark are intended to invite visitors to BAW Garten to join in a shared lunch with conversations—the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, whose solo show will be on view as part of Berlin Art Week, will be offering the chefs from Thaipark a platform to prepare and present their favourite recipes. Tiravanija sees cooking in the dual sense as a presentation of a special talent and interest, but also as a political gathering. He seeks to bring attention to the many protests in support of Thaipark and the Thai communities which were organised last year and the numerous statements of solidarity among guests. The focus on daily meals is about coming together, sharing thoughts and ideas, and the sensory experience of Thai cuisine from the north, centre, northeast, and south of the country. The traditional dishes that will be prepared, including Khao Soi, Pad Kaphrao, Papaya Salad, and Massaman Curry from the four regions of Thailand, and can be explored together with the chefs from Thaipark.
