Cevdet Erek (b. 1974, Istanbul, Turkey) creates works that join sound and sculpture in multimedia explorations of tone, space, perception, reception and time, and their broad spectrum of interfaces. He applies his extensive backgrounds as an architect, educator, musician and sound engineer to rhythmically draw out parallels through site-reactive installations and sonic environments. Employing the auditory as a medium for shaping bodily experiences, Erek’s works invite reflection upon sound as lived sensation and its profound physical manifestations.
