Alan Charlton: Circle Paintings

As part of Gallery Night

Konrad Fischer Galerie
Neue Grünstraße 12, 10179 Berlin

As part of Berlin Art Week 2026, Konrad Fischer Galerie is very pleased to present two simultaneous solo exhibitions, by Alan Charlton and Martin Margiela, respectively, opening for Gallery Night on Thursday, 10 SEP, 610pm.

Alan Charlton (b. 1948 in Sheffield, Great Britain) emerged in the 1970s at a moment when Minimalism, post-Minimalism, and hard-edge abstraction were reshaping the possibilities of painting and sculpture.

Charlton’s pivotal decision to work exclusively with the color grey has shaped his practice for more than five decades. Major solo and group exhibitions include Museum Kurhaus Kleve (2008), the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2001), and documenta 7, Kassel (1982). His works are held in numerous public collections, including the ARCO Foundation Collection, Madrid; Espace de l’Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux; FNAC + CNAP Fonds national d’art contemporain, Paris; the Hall Art Foundation at Schloss Derneburg Museum; MuHKA—Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp; Museu Berardo, Lisbon; Trevi Flash Art Museum, Italy; and ZKM | Karlsruhe. Charlton lives and works in England.
