Konrad Fischer Galerie

In October 1967, when Konrad and Dorothee Fischer opened an exhibition space in Dusseldorf with a presentation by Carl Andre, Minimal and Conceptual Art were virtually unknown in Europe. Many artists of those days, including Richard Long, Bruce Nauman, Sol LeWitt, On Kawara, Lawrence Weiner, Hanne Darboven and Robert Ryman had their first European solo exhibitions at ›Ausstellungen bei Konrad Fischer‹. Their work has been exhibited by the gallery ever since. Konrad and Dorothee Fischer’s approach contributed to a growing international network of artists, by supporting artists since the earliest stages of their careers. The group includes Bernd & Hilla Becher, stanley brouwn, Daniel Buren, Alan Charlton, Jan Dibbets, Wolfgang Laib, and Robert Mangold, as well as Arte Povera artists including Giovanni Anselmo, Mario Merz, Jannis Kounellis, and Giuseppe Penone.

The gallery’s programme has further expanded in recent years to include the work of artists such as Tony Cragg, Harald Klingelhöller, Rita McBride, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Schütte and Jerry Zeniuk, and later Guy Ben-Ner, Peter Buggenhout, Alice Channer, Paul Czerlitzki, Edith Dekyndt, David Douard, Aleana Egan, Candida Höfer, Jim Lambie, Rachel Harrison, Manfred Pernice, Susan Philipsz, Wolfgang Plöger, Gregor Schneider and Paloma Varga Weisz, among others.

In 2007, Konrad Fischer Galerie opened an additional space in Berlin. Since 2025, the gallery operates in the United States as Okey Dokey Konrad Fischer, first setting up a project space in Los Angeles, and later moving on to New York. The gallery is run by Konrad and Dorothee Fischer’s daughter, the artist Berta Fischer.
