Martin Margiela: Martin Margiela in Berlin

As part of Berlin Art Week 2026, Konrad Fischer Galerie is very pleased to present two simultaneous solo exhibitions, by Alan Charlton and Martin Margiela, respectively, opening for Gallery Night on Thursday, 10 SEP, 6—10pm. 

Martin Margiela (b. 1957 in Leuven, Belgium), widely known as the founder of the eponymous fashion house (1988), has dedicated himself exclusively to his artistic practice since 2009. 

His multidisciplinary work comprises a broad range of media. Demonstrating great material sensibility, Margiela's work is rooted in a marked interest in everyday objects and their constant transformation. His 2021 debut solo exhibition was held at Lafayette Anticipations Foundation in Paris, which later traveled to Beijing (M Woods Foundation, 2022) and Seoul (Lotte Museum, 2023). Margiela’s works have also been part of the collective exhibitions ›L’Homme qui Marche‹ at Bielefeld’s Kunsthalle in 2019—2020 and ›No Angels‹ at Berlin’s Wilhelm Hallen in 2023.

In 2024, a newly commissioned sculpture by Martin Margiela, titled ›Blinds‹, was permanently installed in the center of Antwerp, as part of ›Kunst in de Stad‹. Recent solo exhibitions include Taka Ishii, Tokyo in 2026; Kudan House, Tokyo in 2026 and Galerie Bernier-Eliades, Brussels and Athens in 2024. Martin Margiela works in Belgium and lives between Belgium and France.
