Beton Berlin is a nomadic art project in public space focusing on urban structures, materiality, and the ways public space is used. Founded and artistically directed by artist and curator Christof Zwiener, Beton Berlin presents site-specific exhibitions and interventions at changing locations throughout Berlin. The project works with temporary spaces, vacant lots, disused buildings, and urban sites in transition, activating them through contemporary artistic practice. Each project responds to the specific architectural, social, and political context of its location and invites new perspectives on the city and its transformations. Since 2022, Beton Berlin has realised 31 exhibitions and numerous collaborations with national and international artists. The project brings together artistic positions from visual art, architecture, sound, and urban practice.
