Prater Galerie

The municipal Prater Galerie has existed, aside from a few interruptions, since 1967 on Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg—one of Berlin’s most well-known and vibrant districts. It focuses on contemporary themes in art within a broader post-socialist, post-migrant and global context, while throwing a spotlight on artists from East Berlin in 1960s through to the 1990s. A special focus in our programme is on international contemporary art, especially from Eastern Europe. Together with artists, curators and and actors from the civic and community sphere, we aim to establish an open art space for the neighbourhood and beyond.
