Do you have a daily ritual that gives you structure or inspiration?
I have not a structered daily ritual that gives me inspiration.
I get inspired by so many things that have nothing to do with each other therefore does not fit in a ritual or structure. My daily routine is a continuous inspiration from things I see, I feel, I learn and I am amazed by.
What would you do if time, money, and other resources were no object?
Not much would change!
Has there been a book that fundamentally changed your perspective—and why would you recommend it?
I realized later in my life that reading Shakespeare as homework in my early studies has influenced me.
Lately reading Joan Didion and Annie Ernaux were the new influences.
A few years ago one critic wrote about me and my work in comparison to ›Bartleby, the Scrivener‹ by Hermann Melville, also a wonderful short book.
And an interview with Jane Campion convinced me that sitting still and doing nothing is not lazyness but waiting…
A blue covered book with an interview with David Lamelas also has been a big inspiration.

What do you wish you had known earlier?
…that time is fast.
Where do you recharge your batteries?
Travelling, going back and forth to Istanbul mainly!
Is there a work of art you would love to have in your home?
I would have liked to lose a small corner of my home through a work by Michael Asher.
Which exhibition venue in Berlin inspires you?
Bröhan Museum, Jochum&Rodgers, Edition Block……..
What fascinates you about Berlin?
…that you can hear all kinds of different languages spoken when you take the public transport in Berlin.
What’s one item you couldn’t live without?
Coffee, Beams Pilot pens and Paperway notebooks.
What keeps you going?
Curiosity.
Which personality would you like to have a conversation with—and what would you talk about?
I would very much like to talk to a neuroscientist.
What do you look forward to when your working day comes to an end?
My working day does not come to an end.
